Rocksteady Studios announces Suicide Squad game

Rocksteady Studios has finally been officially confirmed to be working on the long-rumored game Suicide Squad.

Bringing on Twitter right now, Rocksteady Studios teased that the next DC FanDome event in the coming weeks was «goal blocked» for the Suicide Squad game. Obviously there is next to nothing to go about right now other than Superman with the sights behind his head. The teaser may imply that players will chase the Kryptonian in the Suicide Squad game.

Rocksteady Studios is, of course, the famous developer behind the acclaimed Batman: Arkham trilogy. It wouldn’t be surprising to find that the Suicide Squad game will include the same formula as Batman: Arkham, like the same shoulder camera and free-flowing combat, albeit with some new features and improvements.

Something about Suicide Squad is rumored to have been in development for at least a couple of years or more. Warner Bros. Games Montréal was reportedly working on both a Superman game and a Suicide Squad game, both of which would be scrapped. More recently, concept art has made its way online to show what the developer was working on.

It turns out that Rocksteady Studios has been the one behind the game the whole time. Either that or the developer took over from Warner Bros. Games Montréal at some point in the last few years for unknown reasons. It may not be a coincidence that Superman will apparently have a significant role to play in the Suicide Squad game when you consider that his own game was boxed.

DC FanDome will take place on August 22nd. While it would be too early to speculate on the platforms, a next-generation release is expected. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will launch worldwide during the holiday temporada. Rocksteady Studios would definitely like to see what a Suicide Squad game would look like on next generation hardware.
