Mortal Kombat 11 just received its first actualización in about two months and didn’t contain many noteworthy elements. Many Brutality requirements have been changed, some future Kombat League items have been added, RoboCop has gotten its announcer pack, and NetherRealm has implemented support for the first Outbreak skin pack which coincided with the actualización. However, attentive fans and Mileena stans latched onto something particular that wasn’t in the parche notes: Mileena’s new eyeballs.
Mileena is not playable in the game, but shows up in Kitana’s Friendship, which is the latest tease for some of her most avid supporters. After running the finisher, Tarkatan’s clone trots and hugs his Edenian sister. And upon further inspection, players saw that he has new eyeballs that are lighter and slightly more human. You can see the comparison in the image above. Mileena’s persistent devotees did not let this go and continued to do so post their responses to Ed Boon on Twitter with this new model.
This all seems as irrelevant as NetherRealm has also optimized other skins in the game with this actualización and slight palette changes shouldn’t be worth more than forum chatter. But some other pieces of the puzzle related to leaks and the upcoming WB FanDome make this more important than something doomed to die on Reddit. Boon is already scheduled to be at the event in person and Mortal Kombat 11 was in the sizzling coil from the beginning of this week, which means the franchise is bound to show up in some way.
And like most events, they have already been there some losses. That leak is from August 4th and pointed to the often established and recently confirmed Suicide Squad game of Rocksteady, the not-so-secret Harry Potter game that took to the internet in October 2018 and then again in June 2020, and WB Montreal’s Batman game. that the team was repeatedly teasing from December 2018. All three appear to be relatively solid bets, given how they have all been leaked, confirmed or both.
That leaves Mortal Kombat 11 alone. The leak is about a trailer for the upcoming live action film – which seems a given given that its director, James Wan, is also on the FanDome roster – and the characters coming to MK11. It says Sektor and Cyrax will be released in September for owners of Outbreak, while Havik, Smoke, Takeda, Evil Dead’s Ash Williams, Harley Quinn, and Mileena will begin arriving in the game in December 2020.
Given that Havik’s assistance element in the game “must be removed, “They got both robots a sort of dialogue code added in the latest parche, Takeda’s existence within the code, and the continuing Ash Williams saga that is and isn’t in MK11, Mileena’s new eyeballs aren’t as frivolous as they once seemed. It’s a real coincidence and it looks like NetherRealm is trying to match that old model of Mileena to a newer one.
Nothing has been confirmed and fans love making fake leaks, but Rocksteady confirming that his Suicide Squad game will be at the FanDome gives everything else in that alleged lineup a little more credit. And when you consider the nuances of everything in that lineup, Mileena’s new eyes may actually be more than meets the eye.
